Voice Overs by Randy
Put the apostrophe in the proper place for pronunciation. Okay, now make the joke about the last name. You know the one. It starts something like “Aren’t you that voice? “ and ends with a groan and a request for a nickel in payment for pain and suffering inflicted.
Did you ever have a History teacher who lectured in a straight deadpan voice and then would carry on conversations between the people he was just telling you about? Bet you didn’t.
Randy’s like that. His engaging conversational voice has a “raw timber that captures the listener’s ear”. He can do a deadpan straight delivery on a script that is only “mildly funny and make it hilarious”. Then take it back to the deadpan guy he started out as like nothing unusual just happened.
There’s a sense of whimsy and playful charm in Randy’s voice. Character voices for material that others can’t quite carry off seem to pop unexpectedly into his head. A nice thing to have happen when you’re asked to dub voices in a language you don’t speak and keep a Southern U.S. drawl that you don’t have. A German from North Carolina – who’d have thought?
If you want a straight read Randy can bring that home too. His pitch instincts, inflection skills and neighborly, conversational style make it a pleasure to produce and work with him in the studio, “for projects that are the right fit for his voice, I certainly recommend him” (Brian Thon; True Tone Studios, Such a Voice producer and coach).
